Here’s What Actually Happens When You Inquire With Me
You’ve landed on my contact page, heart beating a little faster. Maybe you’ve spent hours scrolling through portfolios, or maybe you just stumbled upon a single image that made something in your chest shift. However you arrived here, you’re likely wondering: What happens next?
This post is here to answer that. Because when you inquire with me, you’re not just checking availability — you’re opening the door to something much more intentional.
1. The Inquiry Form (and What It Unlocks)
Once you fill out the initial inquiry form on my site, you’ll immediately have the opportunity to book a consultation call with me directly. This means no limbo, no waiting for back-and-forth emails to figure out a time — we lock it in right away.
That call becomes our first chance to connect not just as photographer and potential client, but as people. As soon as you book it, I begin preparing to meet you with presence and curiosity.
2. The Consultation Call: Ask Me Anything
This is your space to ask anything. No question is too big, too small, or too out-there. I want to know what you’re dreaming of — even if you’re still figuring it out. Whether you have a crystal-clear vision or a handful of Pinterest pins and vibes, this call is where it all starts to take shape.
It’s also a space for me to listen deeply. I’ll ask thoughtful questions that help me understand not just what you want from your photography, but what you’re hoping the day feels like. This is how we begin crafting something tailored and true to you.
3. A Personalised Proposal (Delivered Promptly)
After our call — the very same day — I’ll send over your customised proposal. This includes 3–5 package options built specifically around what you shared with me. My packaging model is intentionally flexible, and I only present pricing after our consultation so that what you receive is meaningful, relevant, and considered.
In addition to the proposal, in the email there’s also space for you to share more about yourselves as a couple. This part is entirely optional — but I truly love it. It gives me insight into who you are, what you love, and what connection looks like in your everyday life. I deeply value forming friendships with the couples I work with, and this step is often where that begins.
4. Booking: Designed With Flexibility
If and when you decide to move forward (yay!), you’ll receive a detailed contract and invoice. We’ll have already walked through both during our call so that nothing feels confusing or rushed.
I believe your payment schedule should work for you — not stress you out — so I offer flexible payment plans based on what’s best for your situation. This is your story, your celebration, and your investment. It should feel empowering.
5. Between Booking and Wedding Day: Where the Relationship Grows
This part of the process? It matters immensely. Because the better I know you, the more intuitively I can photograph you.
Yes, that means keeping me in the loop on wedding plans. But it also means texting me pet pics, sending inspo that made you think of your day, or sharing the silly little joys that make you you. This is a relationship, not a transaction — and I treasure that.
6. The Welcome Packet
Once your contract is signed and retainer is paid, you’ll receive a welcome packet filled with resources and a personalised planning timeline from my end. This gives you a clear picture of what to expect as we move toward your day.
If you’ve booked an engagement session, that’s the first thing we’ll dive into — from outfit planning to location scouting to the shoot itself. (Curious why I strongly recommend an engagement session? Check out this blog post.
7. Six Months Out: Your Wedding Questionnaire
The timing on this varies, but usually around the half-year mark, I’ll send you a questionnaire that covers:
Family details (to plan smooth family formals)
Your vendor team (so I can tag and send galleries post-wedding)
Key timing info (to begin building your bespoke photography timeline)
Many couples — and even planners — aren’t sure how to structure a timeline with photography in mind. That’s where I step in with years of experience and a deep understanding of light, pacing, and presence.
8. Four Months Out: Optional Timeline Review
This is one of my favourite parts: a low-pressure catch-up, ideally in person, but also over Zoom if it's easier. We’ll review and update your timeline, troubleshoot anything that’s shifted, and ensure we’re totally aligned. It’s also just a lovely moment to reconnect.
9. One Month Before: Final Check-In + Venue Walkthrough
A month before your wedding, I’ll send a gentle check-in email and offer another optional call. I also reach out to your venue (yes, even if I’ve photographed there before) to schedule a walkthrough. I visit a few weeks in advance to scout photo locations, confirm logistics with the planner or coordinator, and ensure every detail is dialled in.
This extra step is part of how I serve not just you, but your vendor team. We’re all working together to create something beautiful.
10. Little Extras (That Make a Big Difference)
Throughout this whole journey, there are small moments that make the experience more human:
Surprise gifts (because who doesn’t love unexpected joy?)
Sneak peeks after the wedding — quickly, so you can relive the glow
Open communication — you’re always welcome to DM, text, or email
Thoughtful vendor recs if you’re still building your dream team
This isn’t just about photos. It’s about trust, connection, and shared intention.
In Summary
When you inquire with me, you’re not dropped into a funnel. You’re seen, heard, and guided every step of the way — from our very first call to the moment you’re holding your photographs in your hands.
So if you’re wondering what happens next? This. This is what happens when you reach out.
